What’s Happening @ Your Library?

Hotchkiss Library Closure  The Hotchkiss Library will be closed starting Monday, March 20 and will reopen on Monday, April 10 for installation of new carpet and a fresh coat of paint!
Seed Library  Did you know that Delta County Libraries offers a Seed Library countywide? Beginning in March, patrons can begin checking out seeds to grow their gardens!
2017 Summer Reading Program  Delta County Libraries is already gearing up for the 2017 Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme is Build a Better World. We are always looking for more support for this community sustained program. Cedaredge

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Cedaredge Library  Thursdays starting at 10:30 a.m. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time together. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details.

March Storytime Theme   Let’s Go to Suessville!

Computer Class   Backing up your computer: This class will go over the basics of backing up the files on your computer.  Friday, March 10 at 10:30 am.

March StoryWalk®  Tuesday by David Wiesner will be on display at the Surface Creek Trail StoryWalk® during the month of March.

March Maker Space  Paper Planes!  Come hone your skills at paper plane flying, but first you get to build one! We have the pre-printed planes, use your engineering ingenuity to create your first flight!

 Crafts Group  Crafters meet each Tuesday at 10:00 am to share ideas and show & tell. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details.

Tech Soup Saturday  Bring your devices and your questions.  Our expert “techies” will do their best to answer your questions. Saturdays, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Crawford

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Crawford Library  Stories, games, songs, activities, and crafts for kids 0-5 and their parents or caretakers. Thursdays starting at 10:30 am. Contact the Library at 399-7783 for details.

St Patty’s Day and Spring Equinox Party   Join us at the Crawford Library to celebrate the day!  Be sure to wear your green!  Friday, March 17 at 4:00 pm.

Computer Tutor  Librarians will be available to help you with questions and problems about computers or mobile devices. Just drop in during regular library hours or call ahead for a specific time. Contact the Crawford Library at 399-7783 for details.

Delta

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Delta Library  Wednesdays starting at 10:30 am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time together. Contact the Library at 874-9630 for details.

Teen Movie  Showing a PG-13 movie about a strange doctor, for middle and high school aged students.  Saturday, March 4 at 11:30 am.

Teen Tech Week   Teens are invited to explore the wonders of technology at the library.  March 6 through the 11th during library hours.

Friends of the Delta Library Meeting   Public is welcome and encouraged to attend!  Wednesday, March 8 at 3:00 pm.

Dying Matters   Join Carrie Lerner at the Delta Library to learn about home funerals, green burials and community care circles.  Saturday, March 11 at 12:30 pm.

Genealogy 1-on-1   Get the help you need researching your genealogy in this on-going class taught by Mickey Watts!  Meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5 pm starting Monday, March 13.

Teen Book Club at Delta High School   This Teen Book Club will meet the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 9:00 am in the fishbowl at DHS.  February Book: Miss Perigrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.  Contact the Delta Library for details at 874-9630.

Magic the Gathering  Teens can come to the library to play and trade cards for Magic the Gathering! Tournaments every first Saturday at 10:00am.

Talk & Tangle Yarn  This is a group of knit and crochet enthusiasts that get together to talk and work on their individual projects. Anyone is welcome. Mondays at 5:30 pm.

Hotchkiss

Master Builder Club   Explore your creativity as a master builder with LEGOs!  Join us for monthly design themes and free building time.  All ages welcome, children under 7 should bring an adult.  Meets the first Tuesday of every month October through April from 3:45 to 5:00 pm.

Armchair Travel Series   Experience “Japan’s Cultural Treasures” with Georgia Finnigan.  Tuesday, March 7 at 6:00 pm.

Book Talk & Signing   Visual artist Jadina Lilien collaborated with activist, musician, lecturer and writer Tiokasin Ghosthorse on the book, Butterfly Against the Wind.  Join us at the Paonia Library for a book talk and signing on Monday, March 13 at 7pm.  Call the Paonia Library for more information at 399.7881.

Resume Building   Bring a list of accomplishments and we’ll transform them into a professional resume.  For ages 14 and up.  Thursday, March 16 at 4:00 pm.

Literacy Program

High School Equivalency Classes   Hotchkiss location meets at 397 Bulldog Street. Call Julee at 970-399-5325 for schedule and information.  Delta location meets at 360 E 8th Street.  Call Beth at 970-209-9643 for schedule and information.

Distance Learning Program   Do you need your high school equivalency but are unable to attend our classes? Delta County Libraries now has a distance learning program that offers participants the ability to work from home with an online program to prepare for the test.  Contact Ann at astewart@deltalibraries.org for more information.

ESL Classes  Delta Family Center location meets Monday-Thursday from 11:45-3:15.  Contact Danielle at 970-201-5549 for information.  Delta Library location meets Monday-Thursday from 5:30-8:30 pm.
