What’s Happening @ Your Library?

Delta County, Colorado, October 11, 2017— Delta County Libraries offers many
educational and entertaining activities and events for you and your family to enjoy. If

October 14 is Indie Author Day.  Check out local authors and learn about self-
publishing at Delta County Libraries starting on October 14. Displays featuring books
by local authors, web-based workshops, and information on self-publishing will be
available through the end of the month.

Cedaredge

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Cedaredge Library. Thursdays
starting at 10:30am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time
together. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details

Cedaredge Friends Meeting. Join us for our monthly program and light refreshments followed by our regular meeting.  All are welcome! Thursday, October 12 at 2:00pm.

Computer Basics. Feel comfortable using computers with this easy to follow class that
covers the basics. Friday, October 27 at 10:30am.

Teen Scene. This month we are having a Halloween Teen Party at the library. There
will be a costume contest and food! Tuesday, October 31 at 4:00pm.

October Maker Space. Have fun with marbles at our marble station this month!
September-October StoryWalk®. The Busy Tree, written by Jennifer Ward, will be on
display at the Surface Creek Trail StoryWalk® during the months of September and
October.

Crafts Group. Crafters meet every Tuesday at 10:00am to share ideas and show &  tell.

Tech Soup Saturday. Bring your devices and your questions. Our “expert & techies” will do their best to answer your questions. Every Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Genealogy. Who’s Who in Whoville?  Find out who you really are! Friday, September 1 from 10:30am to 12:00pm

Crawford

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Crawford Library. Stories,
games, songs, activities, and crafts for kids 0-5 and their parents or caretakers.

North Fork Ambulance. Join this informational presentation with Kathy Steckel and
learn about our local ambulance district. Wednesday, October 11 at 5:00pm.

Delta

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Delta Library. Wednesdays
starting at 10:30am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time

Friends of the Delta Library Meeting. The public is welcome and encouraged to
attend! Wednesday, October 25 at 3:00pm.

Delta Book Club. Join the club! Meets Saturday, October 28 at 1:00pm.
Pinterest 101. Learn how to set up an account, create, share, and follow pages.
Monday, October 30 at 4:00pm.

Teen Halloween Movie. Teens are invited to the library for a magical movie and tasty
treats on Monday, October 30 at 1:00pm.

Marble Run Maker Space. Build a marble run at Delta Library during the month of
October!  Parental warning: many small pieces.  6 years and older or with adult
supervision at the maker space table.

Build a Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt. Find the pumpkin pieces and create a funny
pumpkin!  All month long in October in the children’s area.

Genealogy 1-on- 1. Get the help you need researching your genealogy in this on-going class taught by Mickey Watts!  Meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:00pm.

Talk & Tangle Yarn. This is a group of knit and crochet enthusiasts that get together to
talk and work on their individual projects. Anyone is welcome. Mondays at 5:30pm.

Hotchkiss

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Hotchkiss Library.
Wednesdays starting at 10:30am. Join us for stories, activities, and crafts downstairs in
the Hotchkiss Library. Contact the Library at 399-7781 for details.

October Jeopardy. Grab a friend and make a Jeopardy team to win candy and a small
prize! Topics will include local, science, garden harvest, new books and Halloween
trivia. Ages 10 and up. Wednesday, October 11 at 4:00pm.

Introduction to the Night Sky.  Explore the night sky with Black Canyon Astronomical
Society. Presented by the Hotchkiss Library.  Meets Saturday, October 21 at 7:00pm at
333 Bulldog St in Hotchkiss.  Call 399.7781 for more information.

Around the World.  Travel the world and explore a different country every month. Join
us for stories, games, recipes and activities from around the globe. The fourth Thursday of every month at 5:00pm October through April.  All ages welcome.

Fall Book Sale. Friends of the Hotchkiss Library host their big, fall book sale at
Memorial Hall in Hotchkiss.  Bargain prices on books, movies, and other materials.  All
proceeds go to the Hotchkiss Library!  Friday, October 27 from 9:00am to 5:00pm and
Saturday, October 28 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Knitting Group. Do you knit or crochet?  Join us for ideas, help, and good
company the second Tuesday of every month October through April at 10:30
AM.  Anyone is welcome to join!

Hotchkiss Book Club. The Hotchkiss Book Club meets the third Thursday of every
month at 3:00pm, October through June.

Paonia

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Paonia Library. Tuesdays
starting at 10:30 am. Contact the Library at 399-7881 for details.

Knit Crochet Day. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow knitters and crocheters; share

cookies too! The third Saturday of every month from 12:00 to 1:30pm

BeyBlade Tournaments. Come to the Paonia Library to play BeyBlades!  Games and
snacks provided.  Meets the third Thursday of every month at 4:00pm.

Tech Café. Paonia Library will have an open Tech Cafe in the Community Room for all
ages and skill levels to seek tech assistance. Every Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

Literacy Program

High School Equivalency. For information on High School Equivalency classes or
HISET testing, please contact Gail at 399.7670 or gsrebnik@deltalibraries.org.

Distance Learning Program. Do you need your high school equivalency but are
unable to attend classes? Delta County Libraries now has a distance-learning program that offers participants the ability to work from home with an online program to prepare for the test. Contact Ann at astewart@deltalibraries.org for more information.
