Delta County Libraries Closed. The libraries will be closed on Monday, February 19 in observance of President’s Day.

Love Your Libraries! Are you a library user?  Become a library lover during the 28-day countdown to love your libraries! February is Library Lovers Month. Visit your library or www.deltalibraries.org for ways to show your library love today!

Fine Forgiveness Day. Wednesday, February 28 is the final day of Library Lovers Month and it is fine forgiveness day!  If you have not shown your library love yet in February, then today is the day!  Delta County Libraries pays it forward with fine forgiveness. Find and return your lost library items, in good condition, during the month of February, and have your overdue fines cleared during this one-time, countywide, fine forgiveness day! Items must be returned by February 28.  Fees will not be cleared for items that are not returned. Fines begin accruing per Delta County Libraries’ borrowing policies on March 1.

Cedaredge

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Cedaredge Library. Thursdays starting at 10:30am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time together. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details

February StoryWalk®. The woodland animals of Burrow Down are ready for a bedtime story, but where are the books? The February-March StoryWalk® book is The Snatchabook–Who’s stealing all the stories? written by Helen Docherty and illustrated by Thomas Docherty. Visit Cedaredge Library after your walk for activities and books related to the story.  Pick up a Snatchabook Mask Take Home Craft!  Write or draw a Snatchabook bedtime story and be entered to win a Snatchabook book!  Contact Cedaredge Library for more details at 399.7674.

Blind Date with a Book. Visit the Cedaredge Library for a blind date with a book during the month of February!  Books of all genres for all age groups will be wrapped and patiently awaiting someone to connect with.  Chose a book based on genre and age group and then fill out the ‘Rate Your Date’ book review after reading the book.

Bottle Cap Maker Space. Create your own bottle cap magnet at the maker space station this month at Cedaredge Library. Decorate with pictures, googly eyes, & more!  All supplies provided.  Adult supervision necessary for young children.  All month in February during library hours.

Crafts Group. Crafters meet every Tuesday at 10:00am to share ideas and show & tell.

Tech Soup Saturday.  Bring your devices and your questions. Our expert “techies” will do their best to answer your questions.  Every Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Genealogy. Who’s Who in Whoville?  Find out who you really are!  The first Friday of every month from 10:30am to 12:00pm.

Crawford

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Crawford Library. Stories, games, songs, activities, and crafts for kids 0-5 and their parents or caretakers. Thursdays starting at 10:30am. Contact the Library at 399-7783 for details.

Valentine Card Making.  Make your own Valentine card for a friend or loved one!  All supplies provided. February 7 through 10 during library hours.

Delta

Valentine Craft Day.  Make a Valentine for someone special using paint, straws, marbles, and other creative materials.  All supplies provided.  All month long in the children’s area at Delta Library.  Saturday, February 10 from 10:00am to 2:30pm.

Delta Book Club.  Join the Delta Book Club!  Meets on Saturday, February 10 at 1:00pm at Delta Library.

Friends of the Delta Library.  Be a friend to your library!  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.  Wednesday, February 14 at 3:00pm.

Roger Hutchison Art Display. During the month of February, Delta Library will be displaying the works of local artist Roger Hutchison.  The display will feature Hutchison’s abstract metal structures. Hutchison is a retired local art teacher who inspired many students during his teaching career.

Heart Tower Maker Space.  See how high your heart tower rises at the Heart Tower Maker Space!  All month long in February in the children’s area at Delta Library.

Scavenger Hunt. Find the hidden pages and colored hearts in the children’s area and build a book for Library Lovers Month!  All month long in the children’s area of Delta Library.

Teen Game Night.  Board games and card games will be available in the teen area every Wednesday night at 4:00pm.

Genealogy 1-on-1.  Get the help you need researching your genealogy in this on-going class taught by Mickey Watts!  Meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:00pm.

Talk & Tangle Yarn. This is a group of knit and crochet enthusiasts that get together to talk and work on their individual projects. Anyone is welcome. Mondays at 5:30pm.

 

Hotchkiss

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Hotchkiss Library.  Wednesdays starting at 10:30am. Join us for stories, activities, and crafts downstairs in the Hotchkiss Library. Contact the Library at 399-7781 for details.

Movie Makers Club. Use iMovie to direct and produce your own short film.  This club is for teens and meets at Hotchkiss Library on Wednesday, February 7 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.

Knitting Group. Do you knit or crochet?  Join us for ideas, help, and good company the second Thursday of every month October through April at 10:30 AM.  Anyone is welcome to join!  February’s book is The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead.  Thursday, February 8 at 10:30am.

Hotchkiss Book Club.  Hotchkiss Book Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 3:00pm October through June.  Thursday, February 15 at 3:00pm.

Blind Date with a Book. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Go on a blind date with a book and perhaps it will be love at first sight! If you don’t enjoy it, no hurt feelings, just dump it (in the library book drop!).  All month long in February at Hotchkiss Library.

Paonia

Valentine Card Maker Space.  Come to Paonia Library and make a sweet card for your sweetie. All supplies provided.  February 1 through 14 during library hours.

Armchair Travel: Seven Months in Myanmar.  Kate Redmond will share experiences and photos of Myanmar (formerly known as Burma).  Tuesday, February 13 at 6:00pm.

Knit Crochet Day. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow knitters and crocheters; share projects and browse our library of craft books for use or purchase. Always tea and cookies too!  Saturday, February from 12:00pm to 1:30pm.

Garden Volunteer Day.  Build your resume with a volunteer day. Bring gloves and some muscles as we prep the garden beds for this spring.  For teens.  Saturday, February 17 at 2:30pm.

Exploratory Art Class. Local art teacher Natalie Haines will provide a guided art activity for children age 3-5 and their parent or guardian.  Bring your own snack and clothes to paint in.  Space limited to 10 children.  Sign up at Paonia Library.  Every Friday from 3:45pm to 4:45pm starting January 26 through the end of March.

Tech Café.  Paonia Library will have an open Tech Cafe in the Community Room for all ages and skill levels to seek tech assistance.  Every Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

Literacy Program

High School Equivalency.  For information on High School Equivalency classes or HiSET® testing, please contact Gail at 399.7670 or gsrebnik@deltalibraries.org.

ESL Classes. An intermediate to advanced ESL class meets at Delta Family Center Mondays through Thursdays from 12:15pm to 3:00pm.  Contact Danielle at dcarre@deltalibraries.org for more information.  A class for all levels meets at Hotchkiss Library Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  Contact Ann at astewart@deltalibraries.org for more information.

Distance Learning Program.  Do you need your high school equivalency but are unable to attend classes?
