Delta County, Colorado, March 28, 2018—Delta County Libraries offers many educational and entertaining activities and events for you and your family to enjoy. Delta County Seed Library. Did you know that Delta County Libraries offers a Seed Library countywide? Beginning in March, patrons can start checking out seeds to grow their gardens! Contact or visit any of our libraries to learn more and start browsing seeds. Or, visit our booth at the 2018 DACC Spring Expo at Bill Heddles Recreation Center to learn more. Friday, April 6 from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday, April 7 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Sponsor Kids for the 2018 Summer Reading Program. Delta County Libraries is already gearing up for the 2018 Summer Reading Program! This year’s theme is Libraries Rock! We are always looking for more support for this community-sustained program. Contact your local library or visit us online at www.deltalibraries.org under “Summer Reading” then “2018 Summer Reading” to learn more and sponsor local kids for the program.

North Fork Reads! Delta County Libraries joins the Blue Sage Literary Committee and The Paradise Theater in presenting A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, the first North Fork Reads! Copies of the book will be available at all five libraries in Delta County starting March 1. At checkout, the reader will receive a ticket to attend a free showing of the film at the Paradise Theater in April. The ticket is good for any show time of the film starting April 6. All Delta County residents are invited to participate. A discussion and comparison of the book and film will follow the Sunday, April 15 matinee. Cedaredge

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Cedaredge Library. Thursdays starting at 10:30am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time together. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details

Windows 10 Tutorial. Swing by with your device and delve in to the world of Windows 10!  We will be covering the fundamentals, but feel free to bring your own questions as well.  Friday, April 13 from 10:30am to 11:30am.  Contact Cedaredge Library for more details at 399.7674.

April StoryWalk®. Groovy Joe is having a dance party. But, oh no! More and more doggies are knocking on his door, asking to come in. Will there be enough room for everyone? The April StoryWalk® on the Surface Creek Trail is Groovy Joe: Dance Party Countdown written by Eric Litwin and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld. Visit Cedaredge Library after your walk for activities and books related to the story.  Pick up a musical take home craft!  Contact Cedaredge Library for more details at 399.7674.

Seed Packet Maker Space. Make a simple, eco-friendly gift!  Seed packets made from craft paper, scrap paper, fabric, and more!  All month long at Cedaredge Library.

Crafts Group. Crafters meet every Tuesday at 10:00am to share ideas and show & tell.

Tech Soup Saturday.  Bring your devices and your questions. Our expert “techies” will do their best to answer your questions.  Every Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Genealogy. Who’s Who in Whoville?  Find out who you really are!  The first Friday of every month from 10:30am to 12:00pm.

Crawford

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Crawford Library. Stories, games, songs, activities, and crafts for kids 0-5 and their parents or caretakers. Thursdays starting at 10:30am. Contact the Library at 399-7783 for details.

Crochet Club. For beginners and old pros!  Come and learn or come and teach!  Bring your own yarn and hooks.  Every Friday at 10:00am at Crawford Library.

Scrapbooking. Join friends at Crawford Library and get you pictures and other treasured items in your scrapbook.  The first Monday of every month at 11:00am.

Tech Help. Librarians will be available to help you with questions and problems about computers or mobile devices. Wednesday through Saturday by appointment. Contact the Library at 399-7783 for details.

Delta

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Delta Library. Wednesdays starting at 10:30am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time together. Contact the Library at 874-9630 for details.

Information Station. Delta Library offers an open information station in the conference room for all ages and skill levels to seek technical assistance with computers and tablets. Attendees will also receive an introduction to utilizing library databases for online classes. Monday, April 2 at 4:00pm.

Friends of the Delta Library Meeting.  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.  Wednesday, April 11 and 3:00pm.

Plant a Seed Maker Space.  Plant a seed in a cup and watch it sprout as it develops into a plant.  All month long in April during library hours.

Who Hatches Scavenger Hunt. Locate different eggs in the children’s area, crack the egg to discover what creature hatches.  All month long in April during library hours.

Teen Game Night.  Board games and card games will be available in the teen area every Wednesday night at 4:00pm.

Genealogy 1-on-1.  Get the help you need researching your genealogy in this on-going class taught by Mickey Watts!  Meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:00pm.

Talk & Tangle Yarn. This is a group of knit and crochet enthusiasts that get together to talk and work on their individual projects. Anyone is welcome. Mondays at 5:30pm.

Hotchkiss

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Hotchkiss Library.  Wednesdays starting at 10:30am. Join us for stories, activities, and crafts downstairs in the Hotchkiss Library. Contact the Library at 399-7781 for details.

Master Builder Club.  Explore your creativity as a master builder with LEGO and other materials! All ages welcome, children under 7 should bring an adult.  Tuesday, April 3 at 4:00pm.

Birdsong Workshop.  Teens are invited to Hotchkiss Library for a Birdsong Workshop
using Cornell University’s Bird Academy. Visualize bird songs and then test your skills as a juvenile bird imitating an adult expert.  Wednesday, April 4 at 4:00pm.

Knitting Group.  Do you knit or crochet?  Join us at Hotchkiss Library for ideas, help, and good company. Anyone is welcome to join! Thursday, April 12 at 10:30am.

Paonia

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Paonia Library. Tuesdays starting at 10:30 am. Contact the Library at 399-7881 for details.

Exploratory Art Class. Local art teacher Natalie Haines will provide a guided art activity for children age 3-5 and their parent or guardian.  Bring your own snack and clothes to paint in.  Space limited to 10 children.  Sign up at Paonia Library.  Every Friday from 3:45pm to 4:45pm starting January 26 through May 18.

Tech Café.  Paonia Library will have an open Tech Cafe in the Community Room for all ages and skill levels to seek tech assistance.  Every Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

Literacy Program

High School Equivalency.  For information on High School Equivalency classes or HiSET® testing, please contact Gail at 399.7670 or gsrebnik@deltalibraries.org.

ESL Classes. An intermediate to advanced ESL class meets at Delta Family Center Mondays through Thursdays from 12:15pm to 3:00pm.  Contact Danielle at dcarre@deltalibraries.org for more information.  A class for all levels meets at Hotchkiss Library Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  Contact Ann at astewart@deltalibraries.org for more information.

Distance Learning Program.  Do you need your high school equivalency but are unable to attend classes? Delta County Libraries now has a distance-learning program that offers participants the ability to work from home with an online program to prepare for the test.  Contact Gail at gsrebnik@deltalibraries.org for more information.
