Delta County, Colorado, was formed on February 11, 1883 out of central Gunnison County. With the removal of the Ute Indians from the area, settlers ventured over and through the West Elk Mountains to settle into the North Fork Valley and the Delta area. Delta was a “gateway” in the lower Uncompahgre Valley, with Indian trails converging in the Delta Bottoms area during pre-anglo settlement times. In the mid 1820’s Antione Robidoux established the first trading post on the Western Slope. Known as Fort Uncompahgre, serving as a clearing house where Native Americans, Fur Trappers, and traders could exchange goods.

Today, Delta County prides itself in a large number of organic farms and orchards, as well as, the highest elevation vineyards in North America. No matter the season there is lots to see and do in Delta County. Delta County Living strives to be you “go to guide” for locals and visitors.
