2017 Summer Reading Program. Build a Better World and a better you this summer at Delta County Libraries! Registration for the children’s, teen and adult summer reading programs open on Friday, May 26. Register in-person at your library or online by visiting www.deltalibraries.org, “Summer Reading”.

Group Challenge. The Adult Summer Reading Program will feature a challenge for all ages to get involved in countywide! Participants will form a group of three or more
people, select a project to complete in their community, and then share the results with their local library! To learn more about the challenge, contact your library or visit www.deltalibraries.org, “Summer Reading”.

Cedaredge:

Cedaredge Library. Thursdays starting at 10:30 am. Parents and Tots are invited to participate in a reading time together. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details.

Summer Reading: Kindness Rocks. Week seven of summer reading is Kindness
Rocks.  Show the world you make a difference through rock art!  Paint a meaningful
picture, word, or quote on a rock to take home or share with others. Thu, Jul 20, 2017

Summer Storytimes. June and July themes will include: Robots, building with food, build-a- fort, reduce/reuse/recycle, tools are cool, outdoor build-off, building around the world and puzzles. Every Thursday at 10:30 am.

Summer Maker Space. “Build a Better World’ by trying your hand at the complete
Architectural Design Kit, and make a better building! This will be available all summer long during library hours to go with our theme for summer reading. Design a better house! A better world! Through August.

Crafts Group. Crafters meet each Tuesday at 10:00 am to share ideas and show & tell. Contact the Library at 399-7674 for details.

Tech Soup Saturday. Bring your devices and your questions. Our expert “techies” will do their best to answer your questions. Saturdays, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Cedaredge Teen Program. Week seven of teen summer reading in Cedaredge will feature White Box Creations! Fun activities, a prize drawing, free food, and a chance to be entered to win a drone! Fri, Jul 21, 2017 2:00pm

Crawford

Storytime for Babies, Tots, and Preschoolers at the Crawford Library. Stories, games, songs, activities, and crafts for kids 0-5 and their parents or caretakers. Thursdays starting at 10:30 am. Contact the Library at 399-7783 for details.

Teen Summer Reading Program.  Dynamic presenters, real life stories, fun and engaging activities, and preparing (& eating!) delicious food will be the theme of Crawford Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program!  Weekly prizes, comic book giveaways, and a grand prize drawing for a drone!  Every Thursday at 2:00 pm..

Adult Maker Space: Stationary & Greeting Cards. Adults can come to the Delta Library during library hours and make personalized stationary and greeting cards. All supplies are provided. Brought to you by the Delta Library and the 2017 Adult Summer Reading Program! Monday – Saturday, July 17-22.

Genealogy 1-on-1. Get the help you need researching your genealogy in this on-going class taught by Mickey Watts! Meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:00 pm.

Magic the Gathering. Teens can come to the library to play and trade cards for Magic the Gathering! Tournaments every first Saturday at 10:00 am.

Talk & Tangle Yarn. This is a group of knit and crochet enthusiasts that get together to talk and work on their individual projects. Anyone is welcome. Mondays at 5:30 pm.

Hotchkiss

Paonia

World Travelers Scavenger Hunt. Teens can come to the Paonia Library for a scavenger hunt and win a prize!  Fill out a scavenger hunt from the front desk to win a small prize and enter into a drawing for the grand prizes! We will give away four sketch books to record your world. Wed. July 19th-27th

Concert Series: Beth Quist.  Beth Quist is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer, who began playing piano at age 2. She was lead soprano and instrumentalist for the creation band in Cirque du Soleil’s “KA”, and currently performs solo, with Sherefe which specializes in Balkan and Middle Eastern music. She has sung & toured with Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra since 1997, and appears on his albums “Circlesongs”, “Mouth Music”, and “VOCAbuLarieS.”  Beth has also composed over 50 scores for dance, theater, television, & film, including musical contributions to the Emmy nominated documentary “The Two Escobars”. Other notable musical collaborations include Roger Fisher (Heart) & Scott Cossu (Windham Hill). Restoring the Lost Art of Movement.  Come to this informative workshop filled with life hacks for restoring the lost art of movement.  Explore bio-mechanics and the idea that movement is medicine.  You will leave this workshop with new skills, tools and body awareness. Invite your friends and learn to breathe deeper and release pain out of your body! Wednesday, July 26 at 6:00 pm.

BeyBlade Tournaments.  Come to the Paonia Library to play BeyBlades!  Games and snacks provided.  Meets the third Thursday of every month.

Tech Café.  Paonia Library will have an open Tech Cafe in the Community Room for all ages and skill levels to seek tech assistance.  Every Thursday at 2:00 pm.

Literacy Program

High School Equivalency.  For information on High School Equivalency classes or HISET testing, please contact Gail at 399.7670 or gsrebnik@deltalibraries.org.

Distance Learning Program.  Do you need your high school equivalency but are unable to attend our classes? Delta County Libraries now has a distance-learning program that offers participants the ability to work from home with an online program to prepare for the test.  Contact Ann at astewart@deltalibraries.org for more information.
